Coast To Coast K9 Teams has a growing team of 25 full-time and seasonal K9 Handlers assisting in our servicing contracts effectively and with great success. When selecting our K9 handlers, we require a minimum of 3 years’ of K9 handling experience and that each handler participate in a two week K9 handler detection course and certification process with our partner AMK9 Law Enforcement at our shared K9 training facility in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Each handler receives hands-on training and learns comprehensive K9 handling techniques. The classes are led by professional instructors, and are both diverse in the field training exercises and challenging for the hander and k9s who attend.
Upon selection Coast to Coast K9 Teams certifies, deploys and maintains our detection dog teams to the highest proficiency standards which meet or exceed the following:
- United States Department of Treasury (ATF) Standards National Odor Recognition Test (NORT)
- National Narcotics Detector Dog Association (NNDDA)
- Scientific Working Group on Dog and Orthogonal Detector Guidelines (SWGDOG)
Our working dog teams are trained using best practice techniques and standards in order to maximize their consistency and effectiveness. Once trained, an impartial third party certifies our K9 teams. The certification standards are set forth by the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA) and the American Canine Detection Association.
