Trained Explosive Detection K9s
We start by selecting dogs with a high search drive and strong passive alert. Based on their natural characteristics and proven success as detection dogs, Coast to Coast K9 Teams prefers to use Labrador Retrievers, Springer Spaniels, German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois for all our explosive detection dogs’ contracts. And we only choose dogs from proven working dog bloodlines.
We prepare our explosive detection dogs by using actual explosives materials in training, and not simulated scents. Our explosive detection training is thorough; we recreate the scenarios and situations bomb detection dogs will likely encounter when they are deployed in the work field.
Detecting 15 different combinations of explosive materials
Our explosive detection dogs are trained to detect the specific scent of a variety of explosive materials. When training is complete our dogs are able to detect approximately 15 different combinations of explosive materials, and they can detect both trace samples and bulk samples.
Our explosives detection dogs employ the passive-alert
Our dogs are trained to give a ‘passive-alert’ signal when they detect anything suspicious—they assume an unassisted ‘sit’ position near a suspected explosive device.
Our explosives detection dogs work almost anywhere
